Tips sheet and shuffling the deck

This year I've been shuffling things around in my business and my on-line real estate. If you've visited the Design to Theme site recently you know there are now three theming ebooks for sale. If you've visited the HICK Tech site recently you know I'm teaching online marketing workshops in Owen Sound, Canada. And if you've been to emmajane.net you know I've become (more) active in politics.

EmmaJane.net has been my Internet home for more than eleven years. In the last couple of years it ended up being the planet default for a number of software projects. It's been a challenge to keep things updated in all the right places especially during promotions. And so I'm shuffling the deck once again. My Drupal feed will now point to Design to Theme. If you still want to read about quilting or the Green Party or get a lifefeed of all my free software-related adventures, head on back to EmmaJane.net (give me a few weeks to get it re-shuffled though, eh?). Assuming you're here for the Drupal bit, read on!

Free Tips Sheet

I have a dent in my forehead from repeatedly banging my head against the desk at simple mistakes people make when theming Drupal. So I wrote a simple tips sheet for you to print and staple to your computer monitor.

This tips sheet highlights the Top Ten Mistakes People Make When Theming Drupal. How efficient are you at theming Drupal? Are you wasting time on useless steps? Are there modules that you're missing that could slash your development time? Are you making one of the The Top Ten Mistakes People Make When Theming Drupal? Download the tip sheet and find out.

Value of this tips sheet? Pretty much priceless if you're making all ten mistakes. But we had to pick a dollar amount and it's FIVE DOLLARS to get the goose egg off your forehead. In celebration of Drupal Design Camp Boston this weekend I'm going to give the tips sheet away for free when you register for the high quality Design to Theme newsletter. It's ok, you can thank me later. Offer expires June 30, 2010 11:59PM Eastern Time. You must follow the link in this paragraph if you want the free tips sheet.

Why am I being so generous? It's pretty simple: I want more folks to subscribe to my newsletter.

Design to Theme Newsletter

I get hand over fist compliments for my newsletter. (I keep them in a little folder for days when the Internet is full of people being wrong.)

  • "Thanks for your 'newsletters'. I have found them very helpful."
  • "I just wanted to drop a note to compliment you on your writing style in these emails. Always interesting, always friendly, and amusing to boot. Love it!"
  • "The last few newsletters you have sent out have been very cool, and I love what you are doing."

I enjoy putting together the newsletter to a specific set of people who know, like and trust me enough to let them tell them a story about Drupal once a month. It's a different, more intimate, connection than a publicly archived blog post. The newsletter is also the most comfortable way that I know how to tell people about my upcoming products and promotions.

For example: right now you can register for TWO online workshops (they're super cheap at $125CAD/workshop). I sent word out via the Twitterverse, and now I'm posting it here but in the newsletter I also gave people a really awesome set of "The Top Five Functions Every Advanced Themer Should Know." I'm still working on the best way for me to earn a living by helping you learn Drupal. I truly believe this is the most important contribution I can give back to the Drupal community. If you agree, I encourage you to subscribe to the Design to Theme newsletter. And if you're just getting started with Drupal and feel overwhelmed, confused and frustrated take a look at the classes I'm offering. I've made it my job to get you past the hump that you're currently stuck on.
